It's been a long time since I have done that much with my gaming, let alone write about my gaming. So I felt for today's post, I should bring back Gamer42. My gamer alter ego ;)
Lately, due to my current situation, my gaming has all been mobile. While I miss console gaming, I've really been breathing some new life into my Vita and more so on my iPhone 6 Plus. I've been playing several games lately, but I'll just narrow it down to the 3 I am playing the most at the moment.
I have played Jetpack Joyride on the Vita, PS3, PS4, and iPhone. Overall the game was fun for awhile, but I eventually became bored with the game, and forgot all about it. Until last month, when Halfbrick Studios secured rights to add a very special Back To The Future add-on to the game (iOS Version Only).
While it does state in game this is a limited event, for less than $5 you can make it permanent. Which come this week I may actually do. The event itself is fun, with Marty flying in a electric guitar jetpack, DeLorean power ups (that do go 88mph and blasts you further into the level), and even hover boards!
Collecting Flux Capacitors, and coins along the way, it's a refreshing change to the original game. It keeps me coming back pretty much daily right now, and I'm not bored yet! The game has achievements for game center as well, so that's always a bonus.
Playing games on iOS never used to be my thing before, but I've really gotten hooked lately. And while there is also a million 'Runner' clones in the app store, I did find one that I really enjoy......
Tomb Raider Relic Run! Yes a runner clone by all standards. However with classic Lara, weapons, outfits, enemies and levels, it's a blast!
The game even lets you shimmy, ledge grab, wall run, ride vehicles, and shoot Lara's famous pistols at enemies! That's a whole lot more than can be done in other runners out there. I'm not too far into the game levels yet, but I'm really enjoying the game a lot so far! This game also features achievements and game center support. :)
I've also given a little bit of love to my sometimes poor forgotten Vita. I have so many games on it to still play and finish, but for the moment I'm time killing with Fat Princess: Piece Of Cake.
For those not familiar, it's basically your typical 'match 3' type of game, where your matches do weapon damage to on screen enemies. You can also earn coins and diamonds to level up your characters. And that's where the real grind comes in. This is a free to play game. So if I spend real world money, I could blast through this game, level all characters, and earn all trophies in a snap! But that's no fun. For me, the fun is all in doing all of that without spending a single penny. So yes, it will take a lot longer. Yes, earning enough diamonds and coins will be a huge grind. But I find that very oddly enjoyable. I like a good challenge. :)
That's all for today everyone, but look for more Gamer42 posts to come soon, At least once a week. :)
As always, Game On!

I'm nearing the end of my journey on Fat Princess: PoC. I've got about 100 or so "match 5's" left to do and I'll earn the last trophy for 100%. And like you, I make it a point to not spend a dime, so to get to this point has taken a while... LOL
ReplyDeletePretty fun game, though. But, that's probably because I'm a sucker for "match 3" puzzle games.
