Time To Catch Up......Again

Well, it's that time again. That time where I, MvM, allowed my blog to get just a little too far behind. To be honest though, so much has happened in the last 72 days, and so much has changed. For bad and for good. Rather than trying to write about everything that happened (that would be insane lol), I'm going to just note the highlights. So here we go!......

Some friendships and relationships aren't meant to last. That's just life. No matter who you are or how hard you try, there will always be those that no longer wish to be a part of your life. And this is something I learned all too well this year as a whole, but especially in the last 3 months. Long term or short term friendships, these friends have gone their own separate ways. The best thing that I can do is wish them well, and understand that they were in my life for a reason. To teach me something. Good or bad, everything in life happens for a reason, and is a learning experience. To those that were a part of my life, and may see this, just know that I'll never forget any of you, and hope nothing but the best for you all. Maybe one day our paths will cross again. Speaking of lost friends......

I lost one of my dearest and closest friends in early October, Roger Horein, to a massive heart attack. He was only 41. I've known him for almost 20 years, and it would take a whole blog post to share all my memories and stories of him. That is something I plan to do soon.

This loss is still being felt by 100's of his close friends, and family members. I will miss him so very much :(

In happier news, I finally got to see the day I had waited 30 years to see! 10/21/15 to be exact, though "the future" wasn't nearly as impressive as the movie made it out to be lol. Back To The Future day had arrived! Not only was it 30 years since the first movie had been released in 1985, but it was also the same date Marty, Jennifer and the Doc traveled to in the second film. And while there are still no hover boards, flying cars, and the Cubs did not win the World Series......it was a fun day none the less. The Alamo Drafthouse showed a special "quote along" version of the second film, and I bought the special ticket package that came with a very cool collectible glass.

Mind you, the beer I had wasn't as dark as the picture shows, but it was a darker beer. "Marty's Flux Capacitor" from Boatyard brewing. It basically tasted like a Founders Dirty Bastard, so of course I very much enjoyed it. I even wore my BTTF hat! All in all it was a great night, with great company......

And saving the best part of the past 72 days for last, see that cute girl in the picture? And remember earlier I mentioned friends crossing paths again? Well let me tell you about this one :) ......

For those that may not yet know, I actually met my girlfriend Maria, 7 years ago. We went to college together, and met in an incredibly boring Algebra class lol. However, she was certainly the highlight of that class, and if not for her I wouldn't have passed. Or enjoyed the class as much as I did. We became fast friends, she helped me study math that I had not used in over a decade, we hung out on campus, and I looked forward to seeing her every week. Then when class and the semester ended, we ended up parting ways. Just one of those things that naturally happens with friends sometimes. It seemed we were to never cross paths again......

One thing I never thought I'd ever say, is thank god for social media. My first experience with social media, much like millions of others back in the day, was MySpace. But eventually FaceBook took over in popularity, and that's where I stayed in contact with all of my friends. And that included Maria. For 7 years, we lived our lives, had our own experiences, I got married a second time (then divorced), she moved out of state (then came back), and I had a second child. We barely spoke, and never saw each other. Yet we always stayed connected via Facebook, and never forgot about each other. It's just that life took over, and took us in other directions. Then 2 days after my birthday this year, she posted something about a movie series we both happen to be big fans of......

Harry Potter. She saw a license plate while out driving, and posted about it:

I still don't know what prompted me to comment on her post, but I did. And I'm very glad I did too!

The rest they would say is history! We swapped numbers. Texted. Then started hanging out. We discovered the bond we had from years before had not faded away, and it was like we had never been apart at all. We connected in every way you could possibly imagine, on every level, and things just fit. Not to mention we both thought each other was pretty darn cute lol (To be fair, she's way hotter than I am lol). While some may see this as something that happened fast, truth is, it was 7 years in the making and we just didn't know it yet :)

We couldn't possibly be any happier, and we really truly love each other. I'm sure she feels the same way as I do, but I feel like I've finally found my other half. The ying to my yang if you will. And I'm so excited for all of the new adventures that await us! :)

Ok, well that's all for this post! I'm very determined to not let myself get this far behind again with my writing and there's a lot more coming!

As always, Game On!

  3. Everyday I wake up and you are the first thing on my mind and I am just so amazed and happy that we have "found" each other. The stars must have been perfectly aligned because it is a miracle that we even had that class together 7 years ago. Then, we lost contact only to reconnect years later because of a Harry Potter post on a social media website...Like, what are the odds of that?? I am so thankful for you every second that my heart beats and I love you more and more with each passing day. I know you had a rough year, but I hope we can finish it out with a bang! And, here's to many future years of awesomeness together! ;)

By the way, I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to reading many more!

    1. You are definitely the first thing on my mind as soon as I wake up every morning, and always the last thing on my mind as I fall asleep at night. Call it luck, destiny, or fate...... things were meant to happen the way that they did and for a reason. And I am so lucky, and truly blessed that the odds were most certainly in our favor :)

I love you more and more each day too, and I'm glad the earlier parts of this painful year is behind me! Here's to our many years of adventures, awesomeness, and future endeavors together! ;)

I'm glad you liked reading this blog post. There's a lot more to come! ;)
